Have you heard that you need to brush your teeth twice every day if you want your pearly whites to stay strong? You may also have been told that you should floss every day. Keeping your teeth clean can actually help you prevent several problems. Still, did you know that you might be able to improve the health of your teeth by taking a few simple steps?
You may have been told that you’ll need to brush your teeth twice a day, but had you heard that you should actually brush for two minutes at a time? When you brush, please remember to do so gently and remember to move your brush in a circular motion, rather than up and down.
Still, you’ll also have to floss your teeth daily. Once a day should be sufficient, but many people prefer to floss much more often. You should also use a different part of your floss between each tooth to limit the spread of germs. To do so, you’ll probably need to use about 18 inches of floss. Finally, you should clean beneath your gumline with your floss since trying to clean beneath this area with your brush can damage your teeth.
Finally, you’ll have to choose whether you’d rather brush before you floss or not. In reality, either option will keep your teeth clean, but different people have different preferences. For instance, brushing after you floss could loosen food particles that you can remove with your brush, but brushing first could help spread more fluoride around your teeth.
