DENTAL BONDING

Dental Bonding

Senior Couple With Healthy Teeth — Sarasota, FL — Sterling Dental

OUR PRACTICE

When a patient’s smile is flawed by exposed roots, chipped teeth, or irregularly shaped teeth, Dr. David Smith may recommend dental bonding in Sarasota, Florida. During dental bonding, our dentist will apply a composite resin material to your teeth, where it hardens in place and restores the appearance of your smile. Dental bonding may be used to:

  • Treat decayed teeth
  • Fix chipped, broken, or cracked teeth
  • Improve the color of discolored teeth
  • Close spaces between teeth
  • Improve the length of teeth
  • Repair misshapen teeth
  • Protect exposed tooth roots

When performing dental bonding, our dentist will first select a shade of composite resin that will match that of your natural teeth. If desired, a shade can also be selected that can improve the color of your tooth. The tooth is roughened and a conditioning liquid is applied to allow for a strong bonding process. The bonding material is then applied, molded, and shaped to your tooth. A curing light is used to harden the material. The material is then further trimmed and shaped until the desired shape is reached. The final result is polished until it has a sheen like your natural teeth.
