inlays and onlays in Sarasota, Florida. Although dental inlays are similar to dental fillings, the work of a dental inlay lies within the cusps, or bumps, on the chewing surface of your tooth. Dental onlays are also called partial crowns. Their work is more extensive than dental inlays, covering more than one cusp of your tooth.
When placing a dental inlay or onlay, our dentist will first remove the tooth decay or an old dental filling. Our dentist will then take dental impressions of the tooth and those around it so that a dental inlay or onlay can be made. When your dental inlay or onlay is finished, our dentist will place it in your mouth to check the fit. After any necessary adjustments are made, our dentist will permanently cement the dental inlay or onlay in place. Dental inlays and dental onlays are stronger than traditional dental fillings. Your dental inlay or onlay will last you for up to 30 years, which is significantly longer than a traditional dental filling.
